Welcome to our UMW newsletter. Our goal is provide you with a brief monthly review of some topics discussed at our Executive Board Meeting. Christmas Boutique: Sat Nov 13, 9 AM-3 PM in Dougherty Hall. We will have our “Good as New Shop”, Baked Goods, UMW booth with gift items, Café and a variety of outside vendors.
Women’s Retreat: Review by Barbara. Wonderful weekend led by Isla Morley. Topic: “My Life is a Book”. Retreat was informative, fun and we had great opportunity to grow as Christian women. Next year retreat will be Oct 14,15,16
Conference Annual Celebration: Barbara gave a review of Sat. meeting. Speaker, Marva Usher-Kerr was very interesting & gave a meaningful presentation. Kim Dugan was installed as Pasadena District President. Barbara Miller was elected to continue her position as Chairperson, Committee on Nominations. Lisa Cook was selected by CUMW as an honoree of the Candle of Commitment. The Candle was burned in honor of those who provide support for children & youth.
CUMW Installation: Thursday December 2. Location to be announced.
UMW Sunday: Jan 30, 2011
Jan Planning Meeting: Jan 8, 2011. Location to be announced
Fundraising opportunity: Conference Leadership Team will be meeting at our church Nov 5 & 6. Our unit will be serving Fri. night dinner, Sat. breakfast & Sat lunch. Toni Ortega will be needing volunteers for food preparation, servers and clean up team.
Game night: We are starting a “Game Night” on the first Tue. of each month. We will meet at church in room #104. Spouses are welcome. Adults only, child care can be provided with advance notice. Games will depend on attendance. Suggestion: Hand/Foot, Scrabble, dominos, board games. Snacks provided by participants….keep it simple!
